Death is real, death has no gender but is always referred to as he. Death governs the newly dead, he has rites of passage, and though many evil men worship him as a god Death is completely unbiased and neutral, everything dies. Death cannot be bargained with, some men have declared they have been able to trick or cheat death after they died to come back. Death can be challenged after a person dies, the terms are set and a wager is made, and the challenge is taken without cheating on either side. The question is always what can Death want as a prize should the challenger lose, and what does Death take after he wins. Most often he will allow righteous men to barter their souls for more time, with the failing consequence of eternal damnation.
Everything and everyone dies, Death in this respect has power over everything. Everyone may be cautious, search for eternal life or ways to avoid Death, death may be postponed but Death is patient and holds no grudge. When Death calls signs are always present, a crow, loved ones feel they need to visit the one about to be claimed, many have heard drumming in the distance, after Death has taken some have seen death walk in claiming the soul un-obscured. Death has no true form, having an affinity for a piece of art by an ancient race that portrayed Death as simple skeletal remains in a simple black robe, with a tool of the harvest Death almost always brandishes this form. When death calls to the young, or the pure of heart Death always takes the form of a familiar face, a warm inviting light, or delicate creature. However for Tyrants, Murderers, Sinners, and black of heart that enjoy causing harm, Death’s call to them is Nightmarish from bands of fiery skeletons, horrific monsters, personal phobias, or the never-ending perfect blackness not allowing the deceased a final view of what and who is being left behind. For the average man Death shows no pity, no wrath, Death feels all creatures are given the chance to live, what they do with it is their own decision. Often times other gods will call upon Death and request that the individual god claim their truly devout, respectfully Death always allows this courtesy. Death is omnipresent, unlike many of the gods Death can exist in one place or everywhere at the same time. Death is not subject to the physical world, time, space, or plane; Death has and shall always exist. Death is the oldest known god, as other gods are born, die, or fall from power, Death waits to claim even the gods.
Clerics of Death revere death as the final stage of life, natural and unavoidable. These priests are often revered to as Journey Men, assisting with sending of the soul through this journey life. Sentient undead are the un-holiest of sins in the eyes of Death, keeping the life-force detained so the creature can have an unnatural existence is blasphmany. Mindless undead that are nothing more than animated corpses with the use of Necromantic energy are seen as a mockery of life in bad taste but never a sin. Though Death is the most powerful of all the gods, and some many argue Death is beyond the grasp of any of the gods, Death is sparsely worshipped. While temples do exist, shrines are more bountiful; many followers keep a personal shrine at home and in times of torment, passing of a loved one, wars, plague, disease, or shear uncertainness candles are light and prayers are said. Death does not require any homage, sacrifices, temples, or holidays but they all exist out of respect for Death. The spell casting clerics of the faith use their powers to hunt down souls that have been Beyond the Embrace and send them on their way. Other duties include cleansing resent battlegrounds of left behind sprits, repose, war, plague, disease, guides of the dead, and execution. Even though most of Death’s domains are considered evil, Death is still widely worship and revered. Clerics that are devout followers of Death with Blacken Souls often become power hungry with the tools given to them and will use the gods name o Complete personal agendas.
